Startup Memoresa: digital filing cabinet enables digital estate management

Life is increasingly taking place in the digital space, and we are leaving more and more traces there. The Leipzig-based start-up Memoresa wants to regulate what happens to our digital legacy after we pass away.nullThe company was founded in 2019 by Jörg Schädlich and Steffen Stundzig. A serious bicycle accident prompted Stundzig to think about how he could make his digital legacy easily and quickly accessible to his surviving dependants in the event of an accident. In the event of death, Memoresa makes the stored data available to the heirs in accordance with the order - or not. If the surviving dependents are not to have access to private profiles, chats and emails, the company will discreetly take care of canceling subscriptions or deleting profiles and accounts. The procedure can be regulated in detail in the contract during your lifetime. To ensure that everything runs smoothly in the event of an emergency, a power of attorney and a will are deposited with the central register of wills and Memoresa is then automatically informed of the death.

However, it is not always necessary to go to extremes. Memoresa is primarily a platform where you can store, bundle and manage all your documents digitally. You can digitize and upload your documents yourself, but the company also offers a digitization service including collection and return delivery of all papers.nullTypical documents for digitization are

All documents, files and information can be stored in Memoresa in an organized manner. This gives you a better overview, and documents can be accessed and shared on the move. GDPR-compliant storage and legal certainty

User data is stored exclusively on servers in Germany. The company also works with a security company to ensure the best possible security against hacker attacks. However, the user data is not completely protected against access by employees - as the documents need to be worked with in the event of an estate, selected employees must also be able to access them. Memoresa also ensures the legal validity of all stored powers of attorney and informs users of any necessary adjustments in the event of changes to the law.
