Birthday celebrated - invoice ignored

Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht, known from "Die Wilden Kerle" and part of the famous acting family, has scored himself a legal own goal with a hefty hotel bill. At the end of 2021, he celebrated his birthday in luxury at a four-star hotel in Tyrol - including overnight stays, restaurant visits and transfers. The bill? A whopping 14,000 euros.

But instead of paying, Ochsenknecht simply left the bill unpaid - for years. It was only after a civil court ruling and a complaint from the hotelier that things started to move. The result: a European arrest warrant, arrest at Hamburg airport and a trip through German prisons. Not a glamorous road trip, but everyday life in the justice system.

Now it's getting expensive: 18,000 euros on top

Although the outstanding bill was eventually settled - with money from his ex-girlfriend, mind you - the story was far from over. The Austrian judiciary classified the case as serious fraud. At least Jimi Blue avoided a real sentence.

Thanks to a special regulation in Austria, the case was closed with a fine - without an entry in the criminal record. The receipt: 18,000 euros on top of the original bill. A bitter afterthought for a party long gone.

In court, the actor appeared semi-repentant. When asked whether he felt guilty, he evaded the question, but accepted "responsibility for the fact that I didn't pay". He also apologized to the hotelier and the public - late, but still.

Reality TV meets reality

While his finances were being discussed in court, Jimi Blue continued to flicker across TV screens - most recently in the Sat.1 couple show "Villa der Versuchung". And as if that wasn't enough reality, his arrest is now also part of the Sky series "Diese Ochsenknechts". Scandal as a broadcast format - that doesn't happen every day.

The show about the celebrity family is likely to bring Jimi Blue's legal escapades directly into the living rooms of the Republic. Perhaps a clever PR strategy? Or just an attempt to polish up his own image?

Irresponsible behavior

If you treat yourself to a luxury hotel, you should also factor in the bill. The fact that a celebrity like Jimi Blue only pays after years, an arrest and with the help of his ex shows a questionable relationship to responsibility. An "I take responsibility" just seems hollow if it only comes after the courtroom. Legally speaking, the deal was clever - no penalty, no record. Morally? Rather an indictment. Anyone who lives such a public life should also behave properly in public. Or at least pay the bill on time.
