Driving license for the money - without real first aid?

A first aid course is compulsory for prospective drivers in Germany. However, a driving school in Munich is said to have simply skipped this important safety module - for cash. The allegation: two men are said to have sold dozens of fake first aid certificates to learner drivers. The price per certificate? Around 100 euros. The police are investigating - and the scandal is spreading.

What at first glance appears to be a trivial offense is actually quite something: the criminal investigation department has already seized a total of 51 suspected forged certificates. And that's not all - over 500 documents have been scrutinized. The learner drivers concerned now not only have a legal problem, but may also have to fear for their driving license.

Who is behind it? And how could this happen?

Two men, both 45 years old, are at the center of the investigation. One of them apparently works directly at the driving school in question - so he had direct access to the documents submitted to the driving license office. The suspicion: In close collaboration, masses of blank certificates were forged and then sold to bona fide (or complicit) learner drivers.

On March 26, 2024, the police searched the homes of the two suspects at the request of the Munich I public prosecutor's office. Further blank documents and electronic evidence such as data carriers were found - a clear sign that these are not just isolated cases. The investigation is in full swing, led by the responsible police department 34.

What are the consequences now?

Things are getting serious for the 51 learner drivers concerned. They have been charged with forgery - a criminal offense that should not be taken lightly. The relevant authorities are now investigating whether the driving license should have been issued at all. In the worst case scenario, this could mean Driver's license gone before the first real drive even starts.

The driving school itself is also likely to come under pressure. If the allegations are confirmed, not only the school's integrity but also its entire operating license will be at stake. The school's role in the fraud scheme will be a central point of the investigation.

Vital preparation for an emergency.

A first aid course is not a formality, but can save lives in an emergency - on the road or at home. Anyone who thinks they can "buy" this part of their driving license training is not only putting themselves at risk, but also others. And: the authorities are now looking very closely. Anyone who cheats will be found out - sooner or later.
